Once the home of Howard Hughes, John Wayne, Billie Burke, Marilyn Monroe, Errol Flynn, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Paulette Goddard, Zasu Pitts, and even gangster Bugsy Siegel, the Sunset Tower Hotel stands tall and strong gracing the Sunset Strip section of Sunset Blvd with its old world, sophisticated charmed presence. Situated at the center of the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, this traditional symbol of Hollywood elegance meets the contemporary, iconic pop culture feel the Sunset Strip has come to represent.
When stepping out of the lobby of the Sunset Tower Hotel, making either a right or a left, and you will be in the heart of the Sunset Strip. Surrounded by night clubs, restaurants, cafes, shopping as well as the in the evening time the flash of electronic billboards, the Sunset Strip is a delight and strong pull for all the senses. On evenings and weekends the strip becomes full of visitors and locals cruising the blvd looking for the next big thing.
Note that if you are looking to get to Brentwood, Santa Monica or the westside during peak rush hours, the drive maybe as long as an hour. On off times and weekends the drive is 20 minutes or less. During evening and weekends this stretch often becomes grid locked with party goers, visitors and locals. You will find a heavy police force along this stretch during these times as well. In addition during the evenings and weekends there is a great deal of foot traffic along the sidewalk in front of the hotel. There are some convienence stores available that are a 10 to 15 minute walk to the east on Sunset at Sunset and Fairfax.
