The Carmel Wayfarer Inn is a boutique inn located in the heart of Carmel. The structure the Inn is in was originally built in 1929 as a fancy apartment complex for summer residents visiting Monterey Bay from all over. Since then the complex has been converted into a hotel that accommodates visitors to Carmel by the Sea all year round. The Inn is similar to most Inns in Carmel in that the rooms open up to the outside, at the Wayfarer Inn it is of a courtyard.
The Carmel Wayfarer Inn is about 3 blocks north of the major shopping district (Ocean Ave) and is surrounded by a forest of Sycamore and Eucalyptus trees. The sidewalks surrounding the Inn are brick and cobblestone and the hotel has a general cozy feel about it. Those looking to spend most of their time in the Carmel area will find this hotel to be convenient to most sights. It is not on the ocean however the beach is about a 20 minute walk.
Those traveling to Carmel and the Monterey Bay area by car will find the Carmel Wayfarer Inn to be about a ten minute drive to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row as well as to the airport. The south gate to the 17 Mile Drive and Pebble Beach is less than a mile from this hotel.
This Inn provides a continental breakfast (although guests in past have commented that its delicious and sometimes more than just continental with pancakes and waffles). There is also an afternoon wine reception at this hotel. Some of the upstairs rooms at this hotel feature views of the ocean and some of the rooms have fireplaces. The hotel for the most part gets favorable views from travelers who have stayed at the property. It is also known to be clean and efficient.
