The Coachmen's Inn is located on quite San Carlos Ave in the heart of Carmel By The Sea. It is only steps away from the main shopping district of Carmel although a few charming shops line the street across from the Coachmen. Like many of the Inn's of Carmel, the Coachmen Inn has a medieval look from the outside and is surrounded by tall pine trees. The Inn offers convenient parking right on the premises. The rooms open up out onto the outside in a basic open motel look. The Inn allows dogs for a $30 charge. At reasonable prices (between $100 and $200 a night), the Coachmen's Inn is known as somewhat of a bargain Inn for the value when staying in Carmel. The Inn serves a complimentary continental breakfast every morning which usually consists of orange juice and Danish-delivered to each room. Many of the rooms also come furnished with fire places and some with Jacuzzis as well as furniture. The Inn also prides itself on offering a romantic package for couples where they decorate the room and add special service to make the stay more memorable,
The pros to the Coachmen's Inn is that is located in the heart of Carmel and only walking distance (less than 5 minutes) to all the major shops, restaurants and cultural sights Carmel has to offer. The rooms also have a reputation for being very clean and the same staff has been at the hotel for years.
Those traveling outside of Carmel will find the Coachmen Inn to have convenient access to Ocean Ave (the main entrance and exit route out of Carmel to Highway 1) where from there the ride is only 5 minutes to downtown Monterey, the Monterey Airport and between 5 and 10 minutes to Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The only cons to the Coachmen's Inn is that the walls are said to be paper thin and sound from other rooms can often be heard. For the price, the Inn is known as a good value in all of Carmel.
