Located along the coastline just south of Monterey is the world famous Pebble Beach golf resort. When people think of Pebble Beach they often think of a single golf course, the Pebble Beach resort is home to a collection of golf courses, multi million dollar homes and luxury resort hotels that perch on the edge of magnificent cliffs over looking the Pacific Ocean. Every year Pebble Beach hosts the AT&T golf tournament where celebrities come to play with proceeds benefiting a variety of charities. Those visiting Monterey Bay should make a point to make a stop at Pebble Beach for no other reason than to enjoy the breath taking views.
Access to Pebble Beach is via the 17 Mile Drive Highway that has entrances in Pacific Grove and Carmel. Visitors coming from the Monterey area will want to access the resort via the Pacific Grove gate while those coming from Carmel or who are traveling on Highway 1 along the Central Coast towards Monterey will want to take the Southgate at Carmel. The toll for the 17 Mile Drive is $9.50 (and is technically an admission ticket into the Pebble Beach Resort). Most of the 17 Mile Drive winds along the rugged coastline extending south out of Monterey Bay. Although there are a few stops along the route to get out and enjoy the beauty of the coastline, the Pebble Beach resorts are the best locations to relax and enjoy the beauty.
