The Serrano Hotel is located in the heart of San Francisco’s theatre district and less than a five minute walk to Union Square. The hotel markets itself as a boutique “4 Star Hotel” however it is on the larger side with 236 rooms. The hotel is owned by the Kimpton Hotel company that owns and operates several other San Francisco properties including the Hotel Monaco (also in Union Square) and the Argonaut Hotel over in Fisherman’s Wharf to name a few. Visitors to San Francisco looking to spend most of their time in and around Union Square, Chinatown or the theatre district of the city will find this hotel to be in an ideal location. Guests of the hotel looking to venture to Fisherman’s Wharf or some of San Francisco’s deeper neighborhoods will have to take either a cable car, antique street car off of Market or bus.
The Serrano Hotel stands out from other hotels in San Francisco by the décor of its rooms and lobby. Most of the 236 rooms are on the smaller side with the average size being 250 square feet, the nicer suites are over 400 square feet. This means that for most of the rooms there is just room for one queen or king sized bed, an aisle on the floor then working desk and or TV. However every room makes up for its size in the charm of how the rooms are designed. Every room is furnished with Spanish and Morrocan accents. Colorful carpet patterns meet the stripped colored drapes that hang from the walls. The beds have some of the most plush and heaviest duvet covers of any of the beds at hotels in San Francisco. Each guest is treated to heavy bath robes and the bathrooms have the latest in countertops and bath accessories.
As with all the Kimpton Hotel properties in San Francisco there is a hosted evening wine reception that allows guests to mingle with each other and share their sight seeing experiences and tips from the day.
This hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from Market Street where BART trains depart directly for San Francisco International Airport as well as where the Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason cable car lines from Fisherman’s Wharf arrive and depart.
Located in the heart of the theatre district (adjacent to Union Square). Each room is uniquely designed to add individual flair and character.
